Class Descriptions

 

Tai Chi for Wellness - If you are looking for a low-impact, relaxing form of exercise that only requires about 20 minutes a day and rewards your efforts, Tai Chi is for you.  Tai Chi is an internal Chinese martial art in the sense that it focuses on mental and spiritual aspects integrated into movement. 


Relieves physical affects of stress * Promotes deep breathing * Reduces bone loss in menopausal women * Improves lower body and leg strength * Helps with arthritis pain * Reduces blood pressure * Requires mind and body integration through mental imagery * Accumulates energy by releasing endorphins rather than depleting it * Enhances mental capacity and concentration * Improves balance and stability by strengthening ankles and knees * Promotes faster recovery from strokes and heart attacks * Improves conditions of Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and Parkinson’s. Loose clothing and appropriate (sneakers, toe/heel enclosed sandals) footwear is required. $7.00/class​ ~ Classes are ongoing, HOWEVER a min of 5 people are required. Pre-confirmation is strongly recommended to ensure there will be a class. 


SilverSneaker Flex Indoor Strength and Balance - SilverSneaker approved class that focuses on strength/power and balance. Class is circuit style ~ rotating between 15 stations. All participants progress weights and activities as they tolerate. Participants must have the ability to move and exercise independently. Class size is kept small to allow for proper supervision Comfortable exercise clothing and appropriate (sneakers, toe/heel enclosed sandals) footwear is required. Free to SilverSneaker members ~ others $5.00/class. Classes are ongoing.

 

L.A.B. (Legs, Abd, Butt) ​This co-ed class is geared to the "not so athletic" 40-60 year olds; designed to strengthen their lower body and core. Timed interval exercises using legs, abdominals and butt muscles separated by bouts of cardio blasts. Participant must be able to get on and off floor and have the ability to exercise independently. Comfortable exercise clothing and appropriate (sneakers, toe/heel enclosed sandals) footwear is required . $5.00/class ~ Class size is limited. Pre-registration/payment is required. Classes are scheduled AND purchased in packages.

 

Spine Health- The original Fortify Your Frame class. This class is designed to strengthen the core of aging adults with chronic spine pain and/or degenerative spinal changes. Participants must be able to get on and off floor with minimal help (from a chair). All exercises are osteoporotic and arthritic safe! Comfortable exercise clothing and appropriate (sneakers, toe/heel enclosed sandals) footwear is required. $5.00/class ~ Classes are ongoing HOWEVER  a min of 5 people are required. Pre-confirmation is strongly encouraged to ensure there will be a class. 


Ageless Grace-  Ageless Grace is a cutting-edge brain fitness program based on neuroplasticity that activates all 5 functions of the brain - Strategic planning, Memory/Recall, Analytical thinking, Creativity/Imagination, Kinesthetic learning (SMACK) - and simultaneously addresses all 21 physical skills needed for lifelong optimal function. These exercises, based on everyday movements that are natural and organic, focus on the healthy longevity of the body and mind. Comfortable exercise clothing is recommended. This class bare-feet are encouraged, but not required. $5.00/class. Classes are ongoing HOWEVER, a min of 5 people are required. Pre-confirmation is required to ensure a class.
